Substances of Very High Concern
SVHC stands for Substances of Very High Concern, i.e. substances that may be problematic to health and the environment.
JYSK does generally not allow so-called SVHC’s in our products, except in Lithium batteries, some electrical products, and fire retardant in foam products for the British Isles as it is not yet possible to find alternatives.
The list of SVHC’s is defined and updated by the European Union. The substances on the list are lawful to use, but JYSK has decided that we do not want these substances in our products.
When new substances are added to the EU list of SVHC’s, JYSK is notified. Then we will contact our suppliers and ask them to phase out the substances from our products within six months.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®
OEKO-TEX® is one of the world’s leading health labeling schemes for textiles. The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is an assurance for JYSK and the customers that the product does not contain any harmful levels of substances known as being problematic to health.
The vast majority of textile products in JYSK are certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. Textile products are all products where at least 80 percent of the weight of the item is made of textile.
The STANDARD 100 label is also found on many of our other products, for example on the main part of our duvets and pillows.
When a product is marked with the STANDARD 100 label, the whole product is tested for problematic chemistry - including those parts, which are not made from textile, e.g. zippers, buttons and other accessories.
The tests are conducted by independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes.
MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®
MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® is an extension of the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. Besides securing that the product does not contain any harmful levels of problematic chemistry, MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® also ensures an environmentally and socially responsible production.
The MADE IN GREEN label is found on selected products.
Test and control
JYSK has high standards and we work systematically with control of our products. We use external testing companies to control and test our products for harmful chemistry, and at the same time JYSK requires suppliers to test and document compliance.
